"reflections of life"
ARTISTS' RECEPTION AT ART AFTER HOURS
Friday, January 8th, 5-9 pm
Exhibit runs through February 6th
What is Art in me? I have always carried with me the gift of creativity. Since the early years of my childhood I started to experiment with black and white colors giving life to them with shadows and symmetrical lines. Art in me ….. all that my being has absorbed through all my good and bad experiences. It is when my soul speaks and my mind gives it flight. It is when those feelings burst into colors that help transfer them onto the canvas. As an artist, when that transference happens, I feel fulfilled. My acrylic paintings represent scenes of open fields and valleys and the human reflection of times that have affected our way of life. I was born in a historical, colonial city full of a vibrant heritage – Havana, Cuba. I have lived in the United States since 1961 and have had a life filled with great experiences which contributed to who I am today as an artist. In 2007, my wife and I retired and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina from New York City after living there for forty six years.
