On June 1, Nancy Farantatos will join Barbara at Studio C in the Cotton Company with her original designs and beautiful creations. Barbara and Nancy have shared the front room at the Sunflower for sometime and are happy to be together at Studio C.
After studying art at Penn State, Nancy began her life as a military wife and mother, residing at a small base in Germany. It is there she resumed her love of painting and had her first art show in pastels.
About three years ago she began to explore the different possibilities of how she was presenting her artwork after 25 years of mainly working in pastels. By combining her love of construction, dimension, doodling, repetitive pattern and texture, she began creating her artwork on wooden panels and boxes, unusual shapes such as revolving totem poles and even lamps. You never know what she will come up with next, which is a joy to all that view and collect her art.
"I'm trying to create a small world where possibilities are endless. I want to draw you into this world, have you step closer to explore what it is and how it's done." When people say,"I've never seen anything like this!", it's definitely music to my ears!
Nancy resides in North Raleigh with her creative husband Theo, who turns works of art in wood, and her smart dog Fiona. They have two grown sons.
